B. Cross Jurisdictional Planning
Shared planning processes may address a specific population (youth, seniors, homeless), a specific issue (transportation, health promotion) or establish agreements within a general plan regarding when and how another jurisdiction will be engaged. Some examples include:
- Claremont has a youth master plan. See their case study…
- The City of Roseville and Placer County require, as part of their General Plans, interagency coordination to co-locate schools with park and recreation facilities and the joint-use of school and public facilities.
- The City of Fillmore, California and Fillmore Unified School District are working cooperatively with the community to accomplish 20-year goals established in Fillmore’s Vision 2020 plan. The cooperative master plan was developed following a series of town hall meetings. An active steering committee, composed of residents, and city and school officials, keeps the vision alive and encourages the City, the School District and the community to achieve the goals.
- The City of Claremont, the Claremont Committee on Aging, the Claremont Unified School District and the Tri-City Mental Health Center worked together to develop the Claremont Senior Master Plan. As a result, more health clinics serve the senior community, there is improved access to Medicare, several senior support groups were formed, and an abundance of other programs now support the older community.
